Alex Sanchez, PMHNP-BC

Alex Sanchez is a Board-Certified, licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). He received his education with honors from California State University Long Beach (CSULB) and University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). He is a member of American Psychiatric Nurses Association, California Association for Nurse Practitioners.

His doctoral work at UCLA focuses on mentorship, education, and strengthening mental healthcare systems. He is a California native who offers expert mental health care for anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, stressful life events, and many more conditions. Alex brings over 7+ years of professional mental health experience.

His goal is to help his clients live their best lives using modern, evidence-based practices. He is an expert in modern psychopharmacology and helps personalize treatment solutions to best meet his patient needs. He is also part of the leadership team with Nu Leaf Mental Health Group.


Julie Chu, PMHNP-BC

Julie Chu is a Board-Certified, licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Coast University and her Masters in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from California State University Long Beach. With an extensive background in inpatient psychiatric care as well as inpatient chemical dependency, she specializes in primary mental health or dual diagnosis concerns. Approachable and meticulous in providing individualized care, she seeks to continuously provide a supportive treatment plan for her patients through compassionate care. She specializes in optimizing mental health via medication management, therapy, comprehensive diagnostic evaluations. She aims to establish trust and rapport with her patients by tailoring treatment plans to account for each person’s unique circumstances. In her free time, she loves to spend time with her family, explore good food around the area, and is always up to try something new. 


Casey Cortes, PMHNP-BC

Casey Cortes is a board-certified and licensed psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who is committed to serving the patient population. She earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Nursing from California State University, Los Angeles, where she developed her solid foundation in evidence-based practice.

Her diverse and extensive experiences in inpatient psychiatric and public health settings have allowed her to form a comprehensive understanding of the complexities of patient care. Guided by a deep compassion and respect for her patients, Casey adopts a genuine and collaborative approach to treatment. She utilizes active listening to foster a therapeutic environment that encourages open communication with patients and integration of lifestyle changes.

Compassionate, patient-centered care is the core of her practice and she ensures that each individual receives the support needed to be empowered and succeed in their mental health journey. Her background includes treatment of, but not limited to, Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, and ADHD.


Vanessa Diaz, PMHNP-BC

Vanessa Diaz  is a dedicated Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). Born and raised in Orange County, she has deep roots in her community, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Coast University. Her commitment to excellence led her to pursue further education, graduating with honors from Maryville University with a Master of Science in Nursing.

Vanessa's practice philosophy is both evidence-based and client-centered, firmly rooted in the belief that every individual deserves personalized care tailored to their unique needs and goals. With a holistic approach to patient care, Vanessa integrates evidence-based treatment modalities, including pharmacologic management and psychotherapeutic interventions. But what truly sets her apart is her commitment to fostering a collaborative environment without judgment, where patients feel heard, valued, and empowered to embark on their journey towards stability, healing, and the restoration of mental health.

Vanessa's expertise spans across diverse populations and mental health settings. Cassie Mazzoni, PMHNP-BC

Cassandra Mazzoni, PMHNP-BC is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who believes mental health care should be approachable, compassionate, and tailored to each person’s unique journey. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from West Coast University and has extensive experience working in inpatient psychiatry, where she helped individuals navigate some of life’s most challenging moments.

As a proud member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA), Cassandra stays engaged with the latest advancements in psychiatric care and advocates for high-quality, evidence-based mental health treatment. She understands that seeking mental health support can feel overwhelming, and she strives to make the process as comfortable and supportive as possible.

She specializes in treating anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and other mental health concerns, using a combination of evidence based treatment and real-world understanding. Her approach is simple: she listens without judgment, provides honest guidance, and works with her patients to create treatment plans that fit their lives, not the other way around.

Then, she earned her Master of Science in Nursing Education from California State University Fullerton. Afterwards, she received her PMHNP certificate from California State University Los Angeles.

She has five years of experience in inpatient behavioral health services, providing care to individuals across the lifespan. With a strong foundation in mental health nursing, she is committed to helping individuals achieve emotional well-being and resilience. She has developed a deep understanding of diverse mental health conditions, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia spectrum disorders. Her comprehensive approach integrates therapeutic techniques, medication management, and patient education to support each person’s individualized journey toward healing.

Julian Saddi is a Board-Certified, licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who obtained his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ohio University and his Masters in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Charles R. Drew University of Health & Sciences. He has an extensive background in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care as well as emergency medical and psychiatric services. He specializes in primary mental health care and dual diagnoses concerns which includes conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and many more.

Julian’s holistic approach to mental health care is individualized to meet each person’s unique needs and circumstances. His treatment plans are designed to align with the patient’s principles and values, while incorporating the latest evidence-based practice. Emphasizing overall well-being, Julian applies various psychotherapeutic modalities while encouraging beneficial lifestyle changes that promote self-care practices to enhance mental growth.

Alecia DeAngelis, PMHNP-BC

Alecia DeAngelis is a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with a patient-centered approach to care. She is a new resident to CA and obtained my PMHNP at Maryville University.

With years of experience across various levels of mental health, she offers a unique perspective on treatment, tailoring my approach to meet the individual needs of each client. She is dedicated to helping clients achieve their personal goals, while also building coping skills and resilience. She believes in working closely with my patients, encouraging them to be active participants in their treatment.

By collaborating together, finds her patients the best solutions that truly work for them, leading to more meaningful outcomes. Alecia’s role is to support and guide patients on their journey toward better mental health and overall well-being.Her goal is to empower patients in their decision-making process and strengthen their ability to manage challenges or mental health conditions.

Amy Yun, PMHNP-BC

She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Social Behavior from the University of California, Irvine, and her Master’s degree in Nursing, specializing in Psychiatric Mental Health, from Walden University.

Throughout her career, Amy has worked with diverse patient populations, refining her clinical skills and deepening her commitment to empathetic care. With proficiency in Korean, she effectively bridges cultural and language gaps, ensuring her patients feel understood and supported. Amy is passionate about empowering individuals to achieve clarity, healing, and a brighter future.

Dema Bitar, PMHNP-BC

Dema Bitar is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with a Master's degree in Nursing Science from the University of California, Irvine, and a Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health from Western University of Health Sciences.

Dema has extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings, where she provides compassionate care tailored to each patient’s unique needs. She is skilled in conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, developing personalized treatment plans, and utilizing evidence-based therapies to support mental wellness. Committed to evidence-based practice, Dema is dedicated to improving patient outcomes through individualized care and a holistic approach to mental health.

In addition to her clinical expertise, Dema is devoted to lifelong learning and professional development. She regularly engages in continuing education to stay current with the latest advancements in psychiatric care. This commitment ensures that her patients receive the most effective and innovative treatments available.

Dr. Neal Adams, MD, MPH

Neal Adams, MD, MPH, is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He is a Supervising Psychiatrist for Nu Leaf Mental Health’s Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners. He received his MD from Northwestern University, his MPH from Harvard University and completed his psychiatry residency at Stanford where he also served for two years as a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar. He was also a fellow in the California Health Care Foundation’s Leadership Program. Dr. Adams has served as President of the American College of Mental Health Administration and as Medical Director at the California Institute for Mental Health. Dr. Adams’ writings include a book entitled Person Centered Treatment Planning for Metal Health and Addiction Recovery as well as numerous policy monographs and journal articles. He has presented at local, national and international conferences and provides training on treatment plans, clinical outcomes management and evidenced based practice implementation. Dr. Adams has served in both clinical, administrative and leadership positions. He is also psychiatrist at Nu Leaf Mental Health Group


Dr. Robert Nastasi, MD

Dr. Nastasi is board-certified Psychiatry, Interventional Pain Management and Addiction Medicine Physician. He is a Supervising Psychiatrist for Nu Leaf Mental Health’s Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners. He is currently a Veteran’s Administration (VA) practitioner who serves as the Chief of VISN 9 Clinical Resource Hub TelePain Section.  He oversees a multispecialty section that looks to help rehabilitate veterans and improve the quality of life for those suffering from chronic pain.  He also serves in the role of VISN 9 Pain Consultant. He has extensive knowledge and experience in serving patients in the outpatient setting through Telehealth (Telepsychiatry).  He has experience as a medical director of an inpatient psychiatric and addiction service hospital.  He graduated with a Medical Doctorate from the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University. He went on to complete his Transitional Year in Johnson City, NY.  He then completed his residency trainings and fellowship at SUNY Upstate Medical University.  He started his residency training in Anesthesia.  After completion of his first year of residency in Anesthesia, he transferred to the Psychiatry Department where he completed his residency and also served as the Co-Chief.  Following completion of his residency, he completed his fellowship in Interventional Pain Management.

He enjoys spending time with his family and two dogs.  He also spends his free time training for triathlons, and surfing.


Dr. Codie Vassar, MD

Dr. Codie Vassar, a dedicated psychiatrist that is passionate about helping people and has a strong background in mathematics and science. With his expertise in psychiatry, he specializes in diagnosing, treating, and preventing mental illnesses for individuals aged six and above.

Dr. Vassar completed his undergraduate studies at the prestigious University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned his medical degree from the renowned Medical College of Wisconsin. Fluent in English and Spanish, he ensures effective communication with a diverse range of patients.

Dr. Vassar’s patient care philosophy revolves around collaboration, empowerment, and psychoeducation. He actively involves his patients in their treatment journey, encouraging shared decision-making and ensuring they have a thorough understanding of their condition and available treatment options.

Kenji Lu Mori, a graduate of BS Psychology with a license as a registered psychometrician, has spent nearly three years honing his skills as a Virtual Assistant. He has provided adept support to professionals like nurses and psychotherapists.

Notably, Kenji served as a Customer Care Specialist. In this role, he managed patient inquiries, handling everything from the availability of in-house doctors to questions about laboratory tests and result timelines, both over the phone and in person.
